As for many living on the east coast of North America, yesterday was a storm day. I woke up at 6 am to the sounds of whipping wind and the snapping of the tarp that covers our snow blower. I managed to teeter between sleep and slumber for another hour or so before getting up and checking the radio for closures in town.
As expected, practically the whole town was shut down, including my job 🙂 and the mail service 😦 . It had officially become a snow day!!Yay! So as any sane person would do, I bundles in several layers of clothing ( 3 layers of shirts, two layers of pants, 2 layers of socks, 2 layers of mittens) my snow pants and winter jackets and a weird head/face contraption under my hat and scarf and headed out the door with the little dog. I can always count on little dog to want to be outside in the worst weather!
We spent a good 45 minutes or more running around the field and digging in the snow. Eventually I had to come back to the house and drop off my glasses because they were covered in the blowing snow .Really, when everything is white and a big haze of snow, and you can’t see two feet in front of your face, my eyesight becomes just as good as anothers! 😛
We found an ice patch and little dog sat and judged me while I slid around on my tummy, giggling like a child. With all the drifts, there were several high banks of soft snow that were perfect for flopping into. Right by the house was a huge drift nearly 3 feet high followed by a natural snow trench up against the house just wide enough for me to crawl in, Needless to say, I ninja rolled my butt into there!
Eventually my shirts began to untuck , my socks started to roll down and little dog looked like the abominable snowman’s companion, so we came back in and I helped my Mister plaster the walls in one of the spare rooms like a grownup 🙂
All in all, despite the lack of mail, it was a fantastic snow day!! Much fun was had!
