I was a little unsure about a month of letters when I first came across this post by Kerry Aka The Geeky Book Lady. I knew I definitely wanted a letter..and I knew the idea sounded great, but I was unsure of my motivation levels. I can remember attempting VEDA (video every day April) ages ago on youtube and not having the best success at that..in fact, I’m not sure if I ever totally managed?
But then I decided, this should be different! After all, I love writing letters, and best of all, unlike with videos, I do not need to be presentable to write snail mail!
To give myself a fair chance, I have given myself ”weekends” and by that I mean that I can have 2 days off a week from snail mail, either because my day particularly busy or just to prevent it from becoming to much like a task instead of something I enjoy. I’ve also made myself a little schedule/list to help me organize my mailing. I have some postcards to write for Postcrossing, a Valentines sticker exchange to do with IGGPPC, a mail art piece I want to send to a fellow International mail artist, replies to some incoming pen pal letter I hope to get( January was a dull month for my mailbox) and finally I would like to attempt a piece of fan mail and a letter to a sick child which can be done through Send kids the World , Post Pals or Hugs and Hope.
Now although that may seem like a lot of mail, it probably will not be enough to fill the month, so I am on the lookout for a good organisation to send letters to the elderly, as well as any suggestions you may have. If you would like a piece of mail yourself, please let me know in the comments and we will work it out from there!
Happy month of letters to all participants! 🙂
