I mentioned some time ago that a local crafts store had opened near my work place where they are selling art and crafts from local artisans and offering classes to those interested. Well, I was in said shop yesterday picking up some local maple syrup and looking for little treats to send away when the founder walked in. We got to chatting and, long story short, they are looking for new artisans with something different to offer. They already have plenty of jewelry vendors, but have room for a couple more painters, photographers and anything new and interesting they don’t currently have!
Luckily I am not the kind of girl who puts all her eggs in the same basket and I dabble in several types of crafts! I’ve noticed an alarming lack of bookmarks and postcards in the shop as well as doll cloths and geekery items. I don’t know how they would feel about geekery, and in all honesty, I don’t even know if I will really bring him in any of my stuff because I tend to get a bit nervous about stuff like this, but it’s nice have options.
Either way, this has pushed me to look into framing my painting as well as building a proper portfolio. It’s never too soon ( or too late) to build a portfolio in my opinion! 🙂
